1.2.4 Map Settings

Map Settings opens from the gear control on the map navigation strip (bottom-right area). Use it for the in-map tutorial, UI scaling, and quick performance toggles without leaving the project.

A. Tutorial

  • Restart tutorial — runs the first-run spotlight tour again (map pan/rotate/zoom, left bar, Project Info, Themes, Layers).
  • The tour is also offered once when you open a project; skip or finish anytime from the popup.
  • Tutorial progress is stored in a session cookie so it does not repeat every reload unless you restart it here.

B. Accessibility — UI scale

UI scale adjusts interface chrome (bars, buttons, popups) independently of browser zoom. Useful on high-DPI displays or when you need larger tap targets.

  • Drag the slider or use preset steps.
  • The chosen scale persists in a cookie across sessions on the same browser.

C. Performance

  • Shadows — global toggle for sun/shadow rendering (see also 2.1.7 Camera for sun angle and FOV).
  • Shadow resolution — low / medium / high preset; lower values reduce GPU load on large scenes.

D. Documentation link

The Docs icon next to map navigation opens docs.pantograf.app in a new tab (this user guide).
