2.1.9 Tools
The Tools tab collects project-level import and export utilities in one place. Saved tool configs live in the project so collaborators can rerun exports, download files, or extract basemap data without re-entering settings each time.
Note: Older projects may still show separate Exports and Imports tabs until the project is opened once on v0.2; those entries are merged automatically into Tools.
Access: Online only. Creating, editing, or running tools requires collaborator access (or higher) on the project.
A. Open the Tools tab
- Enable Tools from the 1.1.4 Tool Tab if it is not already on the 1.1.5 Left Bar.
- Open Tools and click + to add a saved configuration.
- Choose a tool type, name the config, fill in the form, and Save.
Each saved row shows a subtitle (series name, slide count, layer count, etc.). Hover a row for actions:
- Pencil — edit the saved config (expands the left bar).
- Run / Download / Rerun — depends on tool type (see below).
- Trash — delete the saved config.
B. Export tools
Series Table Compiler
Compiles a 2.1.2 Series into an Excel workbook: one row per feature with theme columns and attribute fields you select.
Requires: at least one series on the Series tab.
- Download Excel — compile and download immediately.
- Rerun — compile and save the file into 2.1.6 Docs for the project.
Export Map
Renders map slides (from 2.1.3 Themes and/or series presentation steps) with island-bar Markdown content into a PDF.
Requires: at least one theme or series.
- Download PDF — render and download.
- Rerun — render and save PDF to Docs.
Export 2D
Downloads selected geodata layers as GeoPackage (GPKG) or DXF.
- Pick layers with the layer tree picker.
- CRS: Auto UTM (best zone for data extent), WGS 84 (EPSG:4326), or custom EPSG.
- Download export file when ready.
Export 3D
Exports fill-extrusion massing from selected layers to GLB, OBJ, or DAE (Collada).
- Choose layers that use extrusion symbology.
- Vector-tile extrusions may be incomplete when full footprint geometry is unavailable in the tile source.
- FBX is not supported in the browser; use GLB for interchange.
C. Import tools
Basemap import
Extracts vector features from the current vector-tile basemap inside a drawn area of interest (AOI) and writes a GeoPackage to the project datasource folder.
Requires: an active vector-tile basemap (not raster-only).
- Switch to a vector basemap via 1.1.3 Basemap Selection.
- Create a basemap import config: set zoom level, style layers to include, output filename, and optional output folder.
- Draw or adjust the AOI on the map (rectangle or polygon).
- Click Run basemap import and wait for extraction to finish.
Imported files appear under the project's geodata sources and can be attached as new layers in 2.1.4 Layers.
